North Sumatra Police Arrest 1.9 Kg Of Shabu To Be Taken To Southeast Sulawesi

The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) Direktorat team arrested a man with the initials SMA alias S (27) suspected of couriering 1,928 grams of methamphetamine at Kualanamu International Airport, Deli Serdang Regency to be taken to Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra).

"Officers arrested the perpetrators by finding evidence of 10 clear plastic packs containing methamphetamine weighing a total of 1,928 grams," said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 30.

Hadi said that this arrest began with information from the public that there was a plan to send methamphetamine from Kualanamu International Airport to Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi.

After receiving this information, the Head of Public Relations continued to arrest the suspected perpetrator of carrying the methamphetamine on Saturday (27/4).

"The perpetrator was arrested in the plane's waiting room with evidence hidden behind the folding of the suitcase's underwear," said Hadi.

The perpetrator and the evidence that were secured and taken to the North Sumatra Police for further legal proceedings.

"This case is clear evidence of the commitment of law enforcement officers in eradicating narcotics trafficking in North Sumatra in general throughout Indonesia," he said.

SMA alias S (27) suspected of couriering 1,928 grams of methamphetamine was charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2), subsidiary to Article 112 Paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 Year 2009 concerning narcotics.

Throughout 2024, the North Sumatra Police have arrested suspected drug couriers at Kualananama International Airport, including the initials II, MJ and AS residents of Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi weighing 7.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine on Tuesday (23/1).

In addition, officers also arrested the perpetrators with the initials AK (24) and MH (29) Acehnese with evidence confiscated 16 plastic packages containing methamphetamine weighing 3.8 kg.
