Prosecutors Demand 7 Years In Prison For Methamphetamine Dealers In Ambon, Easing The Backbone Of The Family

The prosecutor demanded 7 years in prison for the defendant Frangky Sopacua in a case of abuse and drug dealers of the type of methamphetamine.

"Asking the panel of judges who examined and tried this case to declare the defendants Frangky Sopacua guilty of violating Article 114 Paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics," said Public Prosecutors Senica Pentury and Saryani in Ambon, Monday, April 29, as reported by Antara.

The Public Prosecutor's (JPU) demands were delivered in a trial chaired by the chairman of the Ambon District Court (PN) panel of judges Martha Maitimu accompanied by two member judges.

His party stated that the defendant remained in detention and paid a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

The prosecutor also asked the panel of judges to state that the evidence in the form of seven packages of methamphetamine packaged in small clear plastic clips and medium size and one scale instrument were seized for destruction.

The aggravating thing is that the defendant is charged with imprisonment for not supporting the government's program in eradicating and preventing drug abuse and illegal drugs.

The mitigating thing is that the defendant behaved politely in court, admitted and regretted his actions, the defendant had never been convicted and he was the backbone of the family.

Initially, members of the Maluku Police's Narcotics Directorate detained witness Junus M. Lobloby for possession of a clear plastic clip containing methamphetamine.

After being interrogated, witness Junus admitted to buying the drugs from the defendant, so the police arrested him on November 4, 2023.

The panel of judges postponed the trial until next week with the agenda of hearing the defense of the defendant's legal adviser, Abrudab M.
