Head of the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (DKPKP) Suharini Eliawati estimates that around 63 thousand sacrificial animals will enter Jakarta ahead of Eid al-Adha 1445 Hijri.

"As we know, approximately 63 animals will enter Jakarta. It consists of cows, buffalo, goats, and sheep," Eli told reporters, Monday, April 29.

Most of the sacrificial livestock entering Jakarta came from East Java and Lampung.

On the one hand, Eli revealed that the management in ensuring that sacrificial animals to be traded in Jakarta meet the safety and health aspects.

One of them is controlling strategic animal diseases such as mouth and nail disease (PMK), BETraks, lumpy skin disease (LSD) and others.

The DKI Provincial Government anticipates the prevention of the disease by mapping animal traffic.

"We'll map it out. In Lampung it's about the next three months and the beginning of the year, what kind of disease control maps are they actually," explained Eli.

"Jakarta is not a cultivation. So, those who come in and out are very dynamic. That is one that we are investigating, whether they have received the vaccine, until then the medicines," he added.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government also conducts socialization on the readiness of sacrificial officers in residential areas, including house of worship administrators.

"We are now improving the mosque and prayer room administrators. We have trained the mosque committee to become a juleha (a halal defender)," he added.
