64-Year-Old Grandfather Selamat Stabbed By Banteng Shark In Caribbean, Residents: Lucky He's Still Alive

JAKARTA - A 64-year-old grandfather survived after being attacked by a bull shark in the Caribbean Islands coastal area.

The man named Pete Smiths from Berkhamsted, England was immediately rushed to the Scarborough General Hospital for intensive care.

One of the hoteliers who is also a local resident said the lucky victim was still given a long life of the ferocity of the bull shark when he pounced on his prey.

"He's lucky to be alive," said the entrepreneur, quoted from Mirror.co.uk, Sunday, April 28.

The hospital said the victim was currently in a stable condition after the brutal shark attack on Saturday, April 27 local time. However, the victim, known to be a retired IT worker, had to lose a number of fingers due to being eaten.

A witness named Stephanie Wright said the victim was 10 meters from the shoreline in Turtle Beach, Caribbean. However, suddenly a shark fin was seen approaching the victim from a distance.

I saw the shark's back fin come out of the water and thought, 'Oh my God, it's a shark!'" he said.
