SAR Team Expands Search For Passengers Jumping From KMP Reinna In Bakauheni Waters

The joint SAR team expanded the search for passengers who fell from the Passenger Motor Ship (KMP) Reinna in the waters of Rimau Balak Island, Bakauheni District, South Lampung Regency, Lampung on Wednesday (24/4), at 22.00 WIB.

"Today, the fourth day of our search, we have dispatched three teams with three search ships focused on three search points," said Head of the Bakauheni SAR Post, Rezie Kuswara, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 27.

The joint SAR team expanded their search by walking along islands in the Bakauhenu area to Tanjung Tua.

"The search was focused on three points, namely towards Tanjung Tua with RIB Basarnas, then towards Harimau Balak Island and Panjurit Island using the Lampung Police rubber boats and South Lampung Police," he said.

The search was carried out by walking along the central sea area and the shoreline. The fourth day of search was hampered by bad weather.

"The weather is cloudy at the search location and the current is quite strong but still normal," he said.

One of the ship's passengers was reported to have fallen from the ship while in the waters of Rimau Balak Island. The victim, named Dede Saputra, came from Serang, Banten Province, aged approximately 23 years.

The chronology of the incident began on Wednesday (24/4), at around 22.00 WIB, there were passengers who saw the victim with the characteristics of wearing white clothes falling into the sea from the stern of the ship.

Passengers reported the incident to the KMPReinna crew who then forwarded the information to the Bakauheni Port Land Transportation Management Center (BPTD).

Various tools were used in the search, including one Rescue Compt Unit, RIB 03 LPG, PPE, and communication tools.
