The Pemali Juana River Basin Center (BBWS) continues to raise and strengthen the left embankment of the Wulan River after breaking up two times.

"Previously, we did ask for the strengthening and elevation of the Wulan River embankment, as an effort to anticipate when the water discharge is quite large, it is not as easy as it was before," said Demak Regent Eisti'anah in Demak, Central Java (Central Java), Wednesday, April 24, as reported by Antara.

With the increase in the Wulan River embankment, it is hoped that when the water discharge is high, people will not worry about disasters.

He hopes that there will be attention regarding the distribution of water through the door of the Wilalung Dam so that the burden on the Wulan River needs to be reviewed and divided into the Juwana River.

Another request, namely the normalization of the Wulan River so that the capacity is even greater so that when there is an increase in water discharge it can still accommodate it.

Based on information from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) together with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono when he visited Demak Regency, this year it was confirmed that the tender process for the normalization of the Wulan River.

"Hopefully it will be carried out this year and it will be carried out as soon as possible, so that when there is extreme weather from the upper area it will not be affected in the downstream area," he said.

On the left embankment of the Wulan River in Ketanjung Village, Karanganyar District, Demak Regency, today there are two heavy equipment taking river sedimentation to strengthen the river embankment.

In early 2024, the left embankment of the Wulan River in Ketanjung Village broke twice. The first break occurred on February 8, 2024, resulting in hundreds of houses being affected and a number of vehicles passing on the Demak-Kudus Ring Road being trapped by floods.

After the embankment was successfully closed on February 14, 2024 and strengthened, residents affected by flooding in Karanganyar District were finally able to return to their respective homes.

However, residents again had to evacuate after March 17, 2024, the left embankment of the Wulan River collapsed again following the soaring water discharge of the Wulan River.

The Wulan River Embankment which broke at a length of 30 meters or longer than it broke in February 2024 which reached 40 meters in two locations.
