Alexander Marwata Admits He Met Head Of Customs Eko Darmanto: He Reported Misuse Of Authority

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata confirmed that he had met the former Head of Yogyakarta Customs, Eko Darmanto. This moment occurred in early March 2023.

This was conveyed by Alexander in response to the news that he would be questioned by the Polda Metro Jaya regarding his meeting with Eko who was named by the KPK as a suspect in receiving gratuities and money laundering (TPPU).

"That's right, I met ED at the office (KPK's Red and White Building, ed)," Alexander said when confirmed by reporters, Monday, April 22.

Alexander ensured that the meeting was not carried out secretly. He admitted that he was accompanied by his subordinates from the public complaint department.

"And the permission and the knowledge of other leaders. The time is around the beginning of March 2023. ED reports allegations of abuse of authority in importing gold, cellphones and steel," he said.

On that occasion, Alexander said that he had not been summoned by the Polda Metro Jaya as information circulated. Currently, only his subordinates have been asked to attend to clarify the matter of the meeting.

Moreover, he was surprised that someone reported it related to the meeting. Alexander accused this figure of deliberately looking for the leader's fault.

"What I can't understand is that the person who reported seemed to really want to find the leader's fault and wanted the KPK to always be noisy," he concluded.
