JAKARTA - Director of Aviation Navigation of the Directorate General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Sigit Hani Hadiyanto said that the air balloon festival which was held in Wonosobo square, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java, had been permitted with a number of provisions.

"The air balloon festival which was held in Wonosobo already has an implementation permit," said Sigit, quoted from Antara, Sunday, April 21.

Sigit conveyed that licensing was given through a mechanism in accordance with the provisions stated in the Ministerial Regulation 40 of 2018 concerning the Use of Air Balloons at Community Cultural Activities.

He explained that air balloon flights can be carried out at any time and not only during festival moments with the provisions of complying with the requirements and provisions of the law.

Sigit said that a number of provisions that must be adhered to were submitted to the application for permission which must be submitted to the relevant agencies and also to the fulfillment of the provisions regarding the use of mooring ropes, dimensions and colors of hot air balloons.

In addition, it does not bring dangerous materials, so that flight safety can be maintained and does not endanger the safety of the surrounding community. "Hopefully all parties involved can continue to synergize in carrying out massive control in order to continue to increase public awareness in preserving this culture and take action if there are violations," said Sigit.

Sigit said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation also carried out monitoring in the field during the celebration of the air balloon festival.

He said the personnel involved in field monitoring consisted of personnel from the Head Office of the Directorate General of Hubud and structural officials in charge, aviation navigation inspectors, aviation security inspectors of the local Airport Authority Office.

Sigit also appreciated the increasing level of public compliance with the provisions of PM 40 of 2018, this is illustrated by the downward trend in reports of air balloon disturbances submitted by pilots to the Perum of the Indonesian Aviation Navigation Service Providers (LPPNPI) or AirNav Indonesia.

"If there are several actions or actions that are deemed to violate the provisions, the handling mechanism is carried out in collaboration with related parties and law enforcement officials at this location," said Sigit.
