Dragged By The Current, A 20-year-old Woman Dies In A Langkat Bathing Area

The flood hit a bathing area in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra. As a result, six victims were injured, while one died.

Hal tersebut disampaikan Badan Penanggulangan Bencana Daerah (BPBD) Kabupaten Langkat, Sumatera Utara. Peristiwa itu terjadi pada Jumat, 19 April di wisata mandi Pond Abadi Teroh-Teroh atau Pelaruuga di Dusun I Desa Rumah Galuh, Kecamatan Sei Bingai, Kabupaten Langkat.

The Head of BPBD Langkat, Ansyari, said that based on reports received, the victims who died were residents of Medan City who were female and aged 20 years.

"The victim was seven people, one died and six were injured. The victim who died was a 20-year-old woman," said Ansyari in a statement quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 20.

He explained that the unfortunate incident began when the victim and his friends enjoyed a vacation at the location of the Teroh-Toh Pond Abadi guided by a tour guide. Suddenly the flood came and swept the victim and his friends away.

"Friends of the victim were able to save themselves and only suffered injuries, while the victim did not survive and was swept away by the current," he said.

The community together with related parties then continued to search for victims by walking along rivers up to hundreds of meters from the scene.

"The victim was found approximately 300 meters from the location dead and immediately taken to the Namu Ukur Health Center," he said.

After the incident, his party together with related policy makers continued to strengthen coordination and make various efforts to handle post-flood.

"We are coordinating with related parties and accompanying the victim's family and friends at the local health facility until they return to their respective homes," he said.
