Malang Police Unload Production Of Home Industry Scale Methamphetamine

The Malang Drug Investigation Unit (Satresnarkoba) of the Malang Resort Police (Polres) dismantled the methamphetamine-type narcotics production activities carried out in the home-scale industry in the Pasuruan Regency, East Java. Head of Malang Police Narcotics Unit, AKP Aditya Permana, said the disclosure was the result of the development of a narcotics trafficking case that had been handled previously. "We managed to dismantle the supplier network, which turned out to be a home industry network," said Aditya in Kepanjen, Malang Regency, East Java, Antara, Friday, April 19. Aditya explained that the Malang Police managed to arrest three suspects who were suspected of being involved in the process of making methamphetamine in the home methamphetamine industry. The three suspects are NK (40), IW (29), and MS (27), who were arrested during the operation on Wednesday (17/4). According to him, during the operation, Malang Police Narcotics Unit personnel found dozens of equipment and raw materials that were strongly suspected of being used to produce the methamphetamine in a house in Petungsari Village, Pandaan District, Pasuruan Regency. "The house is used as a place for independent drug production by the suspects," he said. He added that the disclosure was carried out by the Malang Police Narcotics Unit after developing the information of the suspect who had been arrested previously. The three suspects have their respective roles in the drug home industry. The NS and MS perpetrators, he continued, were responsible for the process of making methamphetamine at home in the Petungsari Village area, while IW was in charge and divided the duties with the other two suspects. "In the house, it was found that many equipment and medicines were suspected of being used as raw materials for drugs," he said. Based on the results of the interim examination, the suspect who was arrested by the officer did not have an educational background related to chemical science. The suspects studied self-taught in the process of making methamphetamine. "They obtained these materials online, which are violations of the applicable law," he said. Currently, he continued, investigators from the Malang Police Narcotics Unit are still conducting further investigations of the statements of the three suspects. The police are also still investigating the case to ascertain whether there is involvement of the perpetrator or other networks. "We are still developing it, in the near future we will present the results," he said.

Three perpetrators were charged with Article 113 paragraph (1) and/or 129 letters a and b and/or Article 114 paragraph (2) Juncto Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a maximum fine of IDR 5 billion.
