The Corruption Case Of PPE Of The Ministry Of Health Continues, Today The KPK Examines DPR Member Ihsan Yunus

JAKARTA - The investigating team of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today examined DPR RI member Ihsan Yunus as a witness in the investigation into the alleged corruption case in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the Ministry of Health in 2020.

"The person concerned is currently present and undergoing examination before the investigative team," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri when confirmed, Thursday, April 18.

Ali explained that the examination of Ihsan Yunus took place at the KPK's Red and White Building, South Jakarta.

However, Ali has not provided further information about what information will be extracted in the examination of the person concerned.

A number of officials were also questioned by KPK investigators regarding the case, including the Head of the Hajj Health Center of the Ministry of Health Budi Badya. Ali explained that witness Budi Bada was examined in his capacity as a Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Health Crisis Center at the Ministry of Health in 2020. Other officials who were also examined by the KPK, namely the Head of the Evaluation and Harmonization Section of the Mining Facility Policy of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance Pius Rahardjo In this case, Pius was examined in his capacity as Head of the Customs and Excise Section X KPPBC Type Madya Customs B Bogor in 2020. Deputy Chairman of the MPR RI Fadel Muhammad Al-Haddar was also questioned by KPK investigators regarding the case.

Previously, on November 9, 2023, the KPK announced that it had started an investigation into the alleged corruption case in the procurement of PPE at the Ministry of Health.

Information about the investigation was confirmed by KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, South Jakarta.

"The procurement of PPE is there a suspect? Yes, it already exists. We have also signed the Sprindik (investigation warrant)," said Alex at the time.

The corruption case allegedly occurred in the PPE procurement project at the Ministry of Health's Crisis Center in 2020.

When announcing the start of the investigation, Alex had not announced who the parties had been named as suspects. The value of the PPE procurement project at the Ministry of Health reached Rp3.03 trillion for 5 million PPE sets.

The KPK regrets that the government's large disbursement of funds for the protection of public safety and health when facing the COVID-19 pandemic has been misused through corrupt practices.
