Police Arrest 9 Illegal Gold Miners In The Antam UBPE Bogor Area

BOGOR - The Nanggung Sector Police arrested nine gold miners without permission or illegal ones while operating in an area owned by PT Antam, the Pongkor Gold Mining Business Unit (UBPE), Nanggung, Bogor Regency, West Java.

Kapolsek Nanggung AKP Ade Kamsa said the nine illegal miners were caught red-handed while officers were conducting field patrols.

"There are nine perpetrators who have been arrested and handed over to the Nanggung Police, they were caught while Antam officers were on patrol," Ade said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 17.

The nine illegal miners had the initials J bin Dayat, S bin Anwar, AR bin Hae, AB bin Mada, IR bin Sapri, IB bin Janudin, DA bin Dedi, R bin Almarhum Arsudin, serya L bin deceasedum Udi.

"The incident was discovered (Wednesday) at around 02.00 WIB. When arrested, the perpetrator was in the Ciurug XC 71 P Level area with evidence of the theft," said Ade.

He said that during the raids and sieges, these nine people hid on the sidelines of the stapleing (a pile of wood).

Because they were cornered, everything was immediately taken to the security admin office of PT Antam for data collection and medical examinations and then taken to the Nanggung Police Headquarters.

Ade said that the evidence that was secured was six rock sacks which were suspected of containing gold, nine energy brand flashlights, six energy-brand battery stones, three black striped bags from various brands, five pairs of gloves, 20 empty sacks, Rp. 17,000 in cash, and herbal medicine. Bejo type and bodrek medicine.

"The perpetrator is subject to criminal sanctions under Article 363 of the Criminal Code as stipulated in Article 162 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning amendments to Law No. 04 of 2009 concerning mineral and coal mining," he said.
