PANGKALPINANG - Pangkalpinang City Government, Bangka Belitung Islands Province will stop tin ore wild mining activities located in Airmawar Village because they do not comply with applicable regulations. "I ask the Civil Service Police Unit to stop this activity and if it can be guarded this area so that there is no more theft," said Pangkalpinang Mayor Lusje Anneke Tabalujan in Pangkalpinang, Antara, Wednesday, April 17. This was said by Lusje Anneke after carrying out a surprise inspection of illegal mining activities on land owned by the Pangkalpinang City Government located in Airmawar Village, Bukitintan District. During the inspection at the location, the Acting Mayor was accompanied by a number of officials within the local City Government, including the Head of Satpol PP, the Head of the Environment Agency, and the Secretary of the Bukitintan District. "Our presence at the location followed up on a number of reports from the public regarding the illegal mining activities of tin ore on land owned by the Pangkalpinang City Government, precisely near the Office of the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service," he said. The mining activity, he said, did not have a permit and needed to be immediately brought under control so as not to cause wider environmental damage.

He reminded miners not to continue these activities because these activities were acts of theft and environmental destruction. "Don't let the proceeds from stealing be used to provide a living for children and wives," he said.
