JAKARTA - Former leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Muhammad Rizieq Shihab volunteered as an amicus of stealing or a friend of the court in the 2024 presidential election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK).

Rizieq is not alone. Amicus stole was also proposed with former Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin, Chairman of GNPF Ulama Yusuf Martak, and Chairman of PA 212 Ahmad Shabri Lubis in one amicus crime document.

Quoted in the amicus stole document, the four figures expressed concern over Indonesia's future, referring to the 2024 presidential election process.

Rizieq, Din, Yusuf Martak, and Shabri Lubis emphasized that the Constitutional Court is a high state institution that acts as a constitutional guard.

According to them, the Constitutional Court has the main task and function to prevent the recurrence of abuse or abuse of power in state administration.

"Therefore, we hope that the Constitutional Court, as a force of balancing of power which is part of the trias of politics, in order to re-align the journey of this nation and state, will return to the constituent rails based on justice and oriented towards the greatest prosperity of the people and educate the life of the nation and state," wrote the amicus steal document submitted to the Constitutional Court on Wednesday, April 17.

Rizeq et al emphasized that the Constitutional Court's decision Number 90/PUU-XI/2023 which passed Gibran Rakabuming Raka became the vice presidential candidate to open the Pandora's box for the start of various damages to various sectors of national and state life.

"For this reason, it is appropriate for state institutions, the Constitutional Court, to take a role in straightening out various irregularities and abuse of power that deviate from the spirit of reform," he said.

The Constitutional Court has finished holding a trial for the 2024 presidential election dispute. Now, the Constitutional Court provides an opportunity for litigants to submit the conclusion of the election results dispute trial (PHPU), namely the Anies-Muhaimin team, Ganjar-Mahfud, KPU, Prabowo-Gibran, to Bawaslu.

The Constitutional Court has received at least 20 applications as an amicus stealee for the 2024 presidential election. Previously, a number of organizations to Megawati Sorekarnoputri had volunteered as an amicuscuree.
