JAKARTA - The Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Fadli Zon, inaugurated the transformation of the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Denpasar to ISI Bali on Friday (28/02/2025), in the series of the Bali Sangga Dwipantara V Festival at the Citta Kelangen Building, ISI Bali. This transformation, regulated in Presidential Regulation No. 14 of 2025, marks the strategic role of art education institutions as an important pillar in the promotion of national culture.
In his remarks, Fadli Zon said that ISI Bali now has a greater responsibility as a creative laboratory that connects tradition with innovation, art with technology, as well as local wisdom with the global ecosystem.
"This transformation is not just a change in nomenclature, but a strengthening of the role of ISI Bali in the national cultural ecosystem. ISI Bali must become a center for research, regeneration, and cultural diplomacy that elevates Indonesia to the world cultural map," said Fadli.
As an icon of world culture, Bali has long been a bridge linking the tradition of the archipelago with the global community. "With a strong academic foundation, I believe ISI Bali will continue to develop into one of the world's leading art universities," he added.
Fadli also emphasized that in the vision of Indonesia Gold 2045, art and culture must be the main pillars of national development. The works born from ISI Bali, according to him, should be a national narrative echoing in world forums.
The Minister of Culture then opened the Bali National Festival Sangga Dwipantara V, an annual event that became a space for maestros, academics, and students to present works of art and discuss the direction of national culture.
