Landslide Hits RI-Malaysia Border Again In West Kalimantan, PUPR Immediately Reviews Permanent Handling

The national road section on the Indonesia-Malaysia border, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan), has been hit by landslides again.

However, the landslide that hit the Bukit Genting Lanjak area, Batang Lupar District, was still accessible to vehicles.

"The follow-up landslide occurred in two locations in Genting Lanjak, we are currently handling it temporarily, but as soon as possible from the planning field we will review the avalanche location for a permanent handling design with the Head of BPJN West Kalimantan," said the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of the Ministry of PUPR Sri Bintang Pamungkas in Putussibau, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, April 16, confiscated by Antara.

Bintang said the subsequent landslide was expected to occur on Monday, April 15 evening, at two different locations around Bukit Genting Lanjak.

Due to this incident, his party is still trying to deal with landslide materials.

"We are handling the small ones, we are constrained by heavy strike equipment and are in repair, it is estimated that this afternoon heavy equipment can be reused," he said.

To note, previously there was also a landslide in Genting Lanjak on Thursday, April 11, where vehicles could not pass the road due to piles of landslide materials.

Since the first landslide, officers from the Ministry of PUPR have normalized road access for four days, so that road access can be passed by one route, but landslides have occurred again and are still being handled.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Kapuas Hulu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Gunawan appealed to the community around the landslide location to always be vigilant because it was feared that there would be further landslides due to the intensity of the rain.

"The intensity of rainfall is quite high, alert when crossing the landslide location. Apart from being slippery and prone to subsequent landslides," he said.
