JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is ready to fight the pretrial lawsuit filed by the suspect in the alleged illegal levies (extortion) in the detention center (rutan), Achmad Fauzi.
The former Head of the KPK Detention Center filed a pretrial lawsuit at the South Jakarta District Court (PN) on Friday, April 5. Registered case number 46/Pid.Pra/2024/PN JKT.SEL.
"The KPK is certainly ready to face the pretrial lawsuit by the suspect in question," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, April 16.
Ali said the KPK was confident that it would win the pretrial lawsuit. The investigation is confirmed to have met the administrative formal requirements.
"We make sure that the entire process of investigating the case has complied with the legal provisions of the administrative formal requirements for the KPK investigation," he said.
Previously reported, there were 15 people who were suspected of extortion in the KPK detention center. They include the Head of the KPK Detention Center Achmad Fauzi, former Acting KPK Karutan Deden Rochendi and Ristanta, and Hengki who are ex-Kamtib Detention Centers.
The suspects allegedly managed to collect up to IDR 6.3 billion for four years from 2019-2023.
