Ministry Of Transportation Adds The Number Of Backflow Ship Traveles From Sumatra To Java

LAMPUNG - The Ministry of Transportation has increased the number of ship trips to serve passengers and return vehicles for Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri from Sumatra Island to Java Island.

"The step we took for the first time was the number of ship trips operated or ship movements, if yesterday it was 131 times here (Bakauheni Port) it would be 146 times", said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, April 14.

The increase in the number of ship trips is to ensure crossing services continue to run smoothly when there is a significant surge in passengers.

In addition to the increase in the number of ship trips, ship dock times at ports are also continuously monitored through available systems.

"If the ship leans past 45 minutes, it must go," he said.

In addition, the issuance of a Sailing Order (SPB) from the Port Authority Harbormaster Office (KSOP) has also been directed to be faster or less than 5 minutes so that there is no delay in ship crossings.

Budi said that apart from Bakauheni Port, Panjang Port in Lampung was also operated to serve the backflow from Sumatra to Ciwandan Port, Banten.

He has asked the ranks and local governments to convey to the public to use ship services for backflow through Panjang Port.

"That is also relatively (distance) closer than Bakauheni. And we also agree that arriving in Ciwan and we will also escort ship trips," he said.
