Bamsoet's Answer About The State Doesn't Need An Opposition, Hasto Alludes To The Intimidation Of Regional Heads To Students

The Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto said that democracy in the country really prioritizes mutual cooperation. However, his party cannot be silent when there are those who jointly intimidate various parties, such as regional heads to students.

This was conveyed by Hasto in response to the statement by the Deputy Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Bambang Soesatyo or Bamsoet, who said that the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government did not need opposition.

"Indeed, we are a democracy of mutual cooperation, but for very fundamental things," Hasto told reporters at the residence of PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri on Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, April 11.

Hasto said that mutual cooperation should be used in good terms for the progress of the nation. "Not in intimidating," he said.

"When the village head is intimidated, regional heads are intimidated, legislative and even press personnel are also intimidated, professors are intimidated by students whether we allow this," continued the former member of the DPR.

Furthermore, Hasto said that PDIP has not yet decided whether to be in or out of the Prabowo-Gibran government. However, he ensured that the decision in Megawati's hands would prioritize the interests of the people.

"Yes, the position is inside or outside, right, the outline is for the benefit of the people," said Hasto.

As previously reported, Bamsoet said what Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka needed in the future was mutual cooperation. He agreed that all political parties were in one line.

"If necessary, we don't need the opposition. We need mutual cooperation, we need mutual cooperation democracy," said Bamsoet in Jakarta quoted on Friday, April 12.

Moreover, the opposition often ignores the affairs of the people so they do not speak according to conditions on the ground. "It's talking about pride, so sometimes they run away from substance," he said.
