Attorney General's Office Opens Up The Attack Of 6 FPI Laskar To The Police, SPDP Has Been Published At The End Of 2020

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has opened up about the attack on Polri members by 6 Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Laskar. The case has been received since the end of 2020, an order for commencement of investigations (SPDP).

"It is true that an SPDP was submitted to the Jampidum (Junior Attorney General for General Crimes) on December 20, 2020," said the Head of the Attorney General's Legal Information Center, Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak in his statement, Thursday, March 4.

It's just that, said Leonard, for 30 days there was never any follow-up from the Police regarding cases including the transfer of case files. So, the AGO decided to write to the National Police to ask about the follow-up of the case until finally the news emerged that the case investigation was stopped.

"P-17 was issued to inquire about the progress of the investigation sent on January 19, 2021. Therefore, the authority rests with the police investigators," said Leonard.

As previously reported, Bareskrim Polri officially stopped investigating the alleged attack on police officers by 6 laskar of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

This case was terminated because the suspects had died. Thus, the status of a suspect does not apply by law.

"The assault case on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road has been stopped. That way, the investigation and the status of the suspect have been dropped," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono in his statement.

The termination of this case, said Argo, refers to Article 109 of the Criminal Procedure Code. This article contains the question of terminating the investigation because the suspect has passed away.
