JAKARTA - Head of the Office of Women's Empowerment for Child Protection and Family Planning of West Java Province, Siska Gerfianti, accompanied Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy and Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, I Gusti Ayu Bintang Darmawati, to review the readiness of the rest area of KM 59 Cikampek Toll Road in Karawang Regency in providing services for women and children travelers.

Various facilities and infrastructure have been prepared to meet the needs of women and children while traveling back and forth.

"Parana and infrastructure such as women's special toilets, lactation rooms for breastfeeding mothers, playing facilities for children, and the important thing is that health services have been prepared here," said Siska Gerfianti.

The West Java DP3AKB also prepared reading books, 100 food packages, milk, hygienic packages for children and other needs related to women and children.

"We are working with partners to prepare it, including with local rest area managers," he said.

Meanwhile, Gusti Ayu Bintang said that her ministry encourages public service managers to prepare facilities that are friendly for women and children.

"Not only in rest areas, all public service facilities related to homecoming, such as stations, airports, and bus terminals are encouraged to provide women and children-friendly service facilities," said Bintang.

He also asked travelers to report if they saw violence against women and children.

His party has prepared a special "Sapa 129 hotline" which is integrated with the PPA UPTD in the regions. Greet 129 can also be accessed through West Java Super App Sapawarga.

"For travelers and managers of rest areas, terminals, stations, and so on, when they see or experience violence that occurs to women and children, they can convey to Friends of Women and Children services with a hotline of 129 or via WhatsApp [phone]. In the nearest area, it can be integrated with UPTD PPA," said Bintang.

Meanwhile, Muhadjir Effendy expressed that the Government's appeal to go home early was welcomed by the public.

"It is proven here (KM 59), that travelers are already busy going in and out. This is also because there is a policy of cutting toll rates that is valid until April 5, 2024 to encourage homecoming early to avoid congestion," said Muhadjir.
