Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto asked the Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono to prepare the main weapon system (alutsista) to modify the weather.

"The islands of East Java and Nusa Tenggara and until September will continue to be dry followed by La Nina. La Nina has not been completed so what has been prepared, the Air Force will immediately prepare defense equipment for weather modifications," said Hadi after attending the handover ceremony at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Friday, April 5.

The defense equipment that must be deployed is in the form of aircraft belonging to the Indonesian Air Force which has been modified with weather control.

This, said the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, is to avoid extreme drought weather that has the potential to cause forest fires in several dry areas.

Not only avoiding long dryness, according to him, this weather modification technology tool can also suppress too high rainfall.

Hadi did not explain in detail what tools would be used and how many aircraft were deployed to modify the weather.

The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs hopes that these efforts can be carried out directly in order to minimize natural disasters due to weather conditions.

To note, the weather modification technology in question is a tool that functions to spread large amounts of salt from the air.

The salt content makes the weather change according to needs. The Indonesian Air Force previously used this technology in early 2023.

At that time, the Indonesian Air Force used a CN-295 aircraft from the TMC Command Post at Adisoemarmo Air Base, Solo, Central Java to carry special tools to spread 13,530 kilograms of salt.
