Meeting The Requirements, 5,752 Inmates Of Lampung Get Eid Remission

BANDARLAMPUNG- A total of 5,752 correctional inmates (WBP) of the Lampung Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office received Special Remission (RK) in the context of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah.

Of the thousands of inmates, 27 of them received RK II and were immediately released.

"The WBP that received RK I was 5,698 people, and 27 people who received RK II or were released directly, so that the total who received the Eid al-Fitr remission in 2024 was 5,752 WBP," said the Head of the Correctional Division (Kadivpas) of the Lampung Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office, Kusnali, in Bandarlampung, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, April 5.

He said, as many as 5,752 inmates had met the requirements for Eid al-Fitr remission. Those who received the leniency of the penalty were mostly out of a total of 8,752 inmates in 16 UPTs throughout Lampung Province as of April 3, 2024.

"Hopefully, during Eid al-Fitr, remissions can be given according to the amount we have conveyed," said Kusnali.

Kusnali added that the acquisition of special remissions for Eid al-Fitr per WBP varies, depending on the length of the period of punishment that has been served.

Prisoners who have served 6-12 months have received 15 days of remission. Then, prisoners who have served 12 months or more, for the first year get 1 month remission. The second and third years are entitled to 1 month remission. The fourth and fifth years get 1 month 15 days remission, and those who serve the sixth year and so on are entitled to 2 months remission.

The recapitulation data for the acquisition of special Idul Fitri 2024 remissions is based on proposals from prisons and detention centers in the Kemenkumham Lampung area that have entered the Correctional database system, for RK 1, which received 15 days remission as many as 979 WBP.

Then 1 month remission as many as 3,745 WBP, 1 month 15 day remission as many as 753 WBP, and 2 months remission as many as 253 WBP.

As for RK II, 15-day remissions were 2 WBP, 1 month remission was 10 WBP, then 1 month 15 days as many as 4 WBP, and 2 months remission as many as 1 WBP.

"RK I means that after the remission, there are still criminal remains to be carried out again. Meanwhile, RK II is after the remission is immediately free," said Kusnali again.

Regarding prisoners who are entitled to remission, continued Kusnali, they must meet the requirements, namely good behavior within a period of remission, for general crimes they must have served a minimum sentence of 6 months, calculated from the date of detention.

"For criminal acts related to PP 99 of 2012 article 34A, you must still serve a minimum sentence of 6 months by attaching the conditions according to the provisions," said Kusnali.

The granting of remissions is carried out based on Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2022 concerning Corrections, Government Regulation (PP) of the Republic of Indonesia Number 99 of 2012 concerning Amendments to PP Number 28 of 2006 concerning Terms and Procedures for Implementing the Rights of Correctional Inmates, Presidential Decree Number 174 of 1999 concerning Remissions.

Then, Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Second Amendment to Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 3 of 2018 concerning Terms and Procedures for Granting Remissions, Assimilation, Leave of Visiting Families, Conditional Release, Free Leave, and Conditional Leave and Letter of the Director General of Corrections Number: PAS-PK.05.04-307 dated February 23, 2024 regarding the Implementation of Special Remissions for Eid Al-Fitr in 2024 to Prisoners.
