Cirebon Police Close 38 Turning Points During Lebaran Homecoming

CIREBON - The Traffic Unit of the Cirebon City Police, West Java, has imposed a closure of 38 turning points on arterial routes to ensure vehicles pass smoothly during the 2024 Eid homecoming and reverse flow.

The head of the Cirebon Police Traffic Unit, Kompol Ardi Wibowo, said that the closure of the turning point was carried out in stages along arterial routes from the Susukan area to Losari.

This closure is to anticipate traffic congestion on the northern coastal route (Pantura) of Cirebon because during the homecoming season, the number of vehicles passing through the route increases compared to normal days.

"From Ciwaringin (Susukan) to Losari many-turn which are one of the causes of traffic jams. We will temporarily close it, only a few are opened for community activities," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 4.

Ardi said the movement of vehicles from Jakarta to Central Java and East Java was observed to have begun to enter the Cirebon area. The closures are ensured to be able to unravel the flow of traffic so as not to cause traffic jams.

Kasatlantas appealed to the moments of the turnover on the arterial route to be closed, the community did not dismantle or move the signs that had been installed.

The Head of Kamseltibcar Satlantas Cirebon Police, Ipda Heru Cahyo Wibowo, added that closing the turning point is one of the effective ways to prevent traffic accidents and reduce barriers to the northern coast route.

According to Heru, local motorists will not make arbitrary turns when the traffic flow on the route spikes.

"At least there are no traffic accidents, both happening to local residents and travelers," he said.

The Traffic Unit has prepared a situational traffic regulation scheme so that travelers' trips do not stall while crossing the Cirebon area.

"In the Cirebon northern coast area, there are 77 points and 38 points are closed. This is a preventive effort to ensure the safety and smooth flow of homecoming," he said.

During the 2024 Lebaran homecoming and reverse flow, Cirebon Police have established 16 security posts spread across toll roads and arterial routes.

All personnel from the Cirebon Police Traffic Unit will be on standby at the security post to carry out their duties in securing and regulating traffic so that travelers can reach the destination area safely.
