PEKANBARU - The Riau Provincial Natural Resources Conservation Agency has installed two trap cages after two people were reported to have been killed by a tiger in the Industrial Plantation Forest (HTI) area of Sungai Ara Village, Pelalawan District, Pelalawan Regency.

Acting Head of the Riau Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA), Laskar Jaya Permana, explained that according to the mitigation team's report, the tiger that attacked the victim was suspected to be the same individual as the perpetrator of the previous attack. The animal is estimated to be male with an age of about three years.

"A provisional conclusion was obtained from the results of field trace examination which has the same size and characteristics. However, identification is still being carried out to determine whether it is the same individual," he said in Pekanbaru, Monday, July 13, as reported by ANTARA.

It is known that after killing a 12-year-old boy, the violence of the Sumatran Tiger again took the life of a man in the name of Eko Prasetyo (29). The incident occurred on Friday (10/7) evening in the second camp area which is about 6.5 kilometers from the location of the first attack.

The victim, according to Laskar, was allegedly attacked by a tiger while leaving the camp at night. The victim was then found the next morning, Saturday (11/7) in a dead condition with severe injuries to the neck and both legs.

"Part of the victim's body has also been eaten by the tiger," he said.

Previously, the first victim of the Sumatran tiger attack in the area was JZ (12), the son of an HTI worker who lived in the same camp. The incident occurred early Tuesday (7/7).

JZ was reportedly attacked while waiting for his brother to wash dishes in the back bathroom of the camp. The victim's brother had heard his younger brother's screams, but when he was found about 10 meters from the camp, the victim had severe injuries to his neck and was declared dead after being taken to a health facility.
