Police Arrest 2 Gold Thieves Worth IDR 3.7 Billion In Cirebon

Cirebon City Police, West Java, arrested two perpetrators with the initials IS (43) and WS (20) who were the masterminds behind the theft of gold jewelry worth IDR 3.7 billion from one of the gold shops.

Cirebon City Police Chief AKBP Rano Hadiyanto said the two perpetrators acted by entering through the water channel and breaking into the shop door using a welding device, then taking dozens of gold jewelry.

"We also secured evidence in the form of dozens of gold jewelry and gold bars weighing 3.7 kg from the two perpetrators," said the Police Chief, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, April 3.

Dari hasil pemeriksaan, para pelaku mengakui telah merencanakan aksi pencurian secara matang sehingga mereka dapat dengan mudah masuk ke toko emas itu.

The main motive for the two perpetrators to steal jewelry at the gold shop was based on economic problems. However, they are still conducting further investigations.

"The suspects will undergo further legal proceedings, to account for their actions," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cirebon City Police, AKP Anggi Eko Prasetyo, said the two perpetrators were former gold shop employees, and knew in detail about the location and shape of the shop building.

According to him, IS and WS also had time to map this gold shop so that both of them were so free to take jewelry without the shop owner knowing.

"The person concerned has the intention to commit a criminal act and is planned with one of his colleagues, through a water channel. Previously the suspect had mapped," he explained.

Anggi emphasized that with the disclosure of this theft case, people in Cirebon City were asked to increase their awareness of all potential criminal acts and immediately report it to the Cirebon City Police.

"To account for their actions, our two perpetrators are snared under Article 363 with the threat of a sentence of seven years in prison," he said.
