KPK Hopes Prabowo Bridges Communication With AGOs: Don't Be Like Now

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Alexander Marwata hopes that Prabowo Subianto as the presidential candidate with the most votes in the 2024 presidential election will bring fresh air to eradicate corruption in the country when he is sworn in. "We hope that in the future the president will really bridge the communication between the KPK leadership, the Attorney General, and the National Police Chief," Alexander said in a public discussion entitled Corruption Eradication: Reflection and Hope' at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, April 2.

Alexander said that in Indonesia, the KPK together with the Attorney General's Office and the National Police were responsible institutions for efforts to eradicate corruption. However, it is undeniable that the communication of the three is often jammed.

Therefore, Prabowo was asked to summon leaders from each institution. "At least, yes, once every two months, for example, the president summoned the leadership of the KPK, the National Police Chief, the Attorney General specifically to discuss corruption cases, how to coordinate the synergy between the three institutions in eradicating corruption, the problem is where," he said.

In addition, the new president is expected to convey to the Attorney General's Office and the National Police every corruption case related to law enforcement officials should be handled by the KPK. "Don't be like it is now," said Alexander.

"Now if we arrest the prosecutor in handling corruption cases, causing bad communication, there is friction, this is very unhealthy. So that there is friction, the door to coordination and supervision as if it is closed, it doesn't go well," he continued.

In addition, Alexander also invited the public to collect Prabowo's promise in an effort to strengthen the eradication of corruption. Moreover, the president will become a leader in the steps taken.

"He (Prabowo, ed) said that later when he became president and was appointed there would be no compromise on corruption. I invite, we, the KPK leadership invite the public to always remind and collect Pak Prabowo's promise to eradicate corruption, right," he said.
