Yusril Feels Complaints Against The Ganjar-Mahfud Legal Team At The Constitutional Court Session

JAKARTA - The head of the Prabowo-Gibran legal team, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, felt that he was pitted against each other by a member of the Ganjar-Mahfud legal team, Lutfhi Yazid in the 2024 presidential election dispute trial.

In a trial at the Constitutional Court (MK) today, Lutfhi alluded to Yusril's statement a few months ago regarding the decision on the age limit for presidential and vice-presidential candidates that passed Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Yusril, in October 2023, said that the Constitutional Court's decision number 90/PUU-XXI/2023 was problematic. The remarks were quoted by Luthfi.

Meanwhile, Yusril is currently Prabowo-Gibran's attorney as a related party at the Constitutional Court trial.

"It's not good either in the trial, an advocate seems to pit each other between the advocate and his client. It's not appropriate to say. It's unethical to do something like that in court," said Yusril at the Constitutional Court building, Tuesday, April 2.

Yusril admitted that he had mentioned the decision on the age requirements for the presidential and vice presidential candidates to be problematic. In fact, Yusril thinks that he will not run in the presidential election if he is in Gibran's position.

However, the General Chairperson of the Crescent Star Party (PBB) admitted that he could not oppose Gibran's decision to run as Prabowo's vice presidential candidate.

"At that time I said, had I been Gibran maybe I would not have advanced to nominations, because I knew this was problematic," said Yusril.

"But if he makes a decision, I respect his decision," he continued.

Previously, a member of Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD's legal team, Luthfi Yazid, in the trial quoted Yusril's statement, who is now Prabowo-Gibran's legal team.

"There was a constitutional law expert, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, he was in interviews and in various media he said that the decision number 90 of the Constitutional Court was seriously flawed, even containing legal smuggling. Therefore, he had a long impact on the Constitutional Court's decision," said Lutfi.

Lutfi again quoted Yusril's statement that he would not run as a vice presidential candidate by adhering to the 90 decision when he assumed himself to be Gibran.

"That's why Yusril said 'If I were Gibran, then I would ask him not to continue his candidacy'," he said.
