Vice President: KY Plays An Important Role In Guaranteeing Clean And Efficient Judicials

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the Judicial Commission (KY) plays an important role in ensuring the future of a quality, clean, effective, and efficient justice system in Indonesia.

"The Judicial Commission is an independent state institution in carrying out the external supervisory function of judicial power. For this reason, the Judicial Commission plays an important role in ensuring the future of a quality, clean, effective, and efficient justice system in Indonesia," said the Vice President when giving a speech at the event "Submission of the Judicial Commission Annual Report in 2023" reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, April 2.

However, the Vice President also emphasized that the authority of KY is not authoritative because it involves the authority of the judiciary's internal supervisory agency, namely the Supreme Court (MA).

"For this reason, good cooperation with the Supreme Court is important," he said.

In the context of this collaboration, the Vice President asked KY to also strengthen cooperation with various other stakeholders such as academics and community institutions in order to streamline supervision of judges and expand community participation.

Meanwhile, from the institutional aspect, the number of judges in Indonesia has not yet balanced with the limited number of human resources (HR) in charge of supervising the ethics of judges.

"Increasing the quality and quantity of human resources in supervision still requires mutual attention, while in the context of institutional strengthening, the use of information technology is also needed to solve the problem of HR limitations in order to carry out public service functions effectively and evenly," he said.

Therefore, the Vice President appealed to KY to continue to develop and update digital services to the public so that services are more effective and equitable.

"Finally, increasing literacy for judges and the public regarding an independent, clean, effective, and efficient justice system needs to be pursued," said the Vice President.

The chairman of KY Amzulian Rifai said that the existence of regional liaisons plays an important role in ensuring the success of monitoring the judicial process which is good and fair. Therefore, cooperation with regional representatives is expected to continue to be well established, and is also a form of KY's commitment to realizing quality justice in Indonesia.

"The presence of KY and its liaison in the regions is important to maintain integrity. KY is committed to improving the quality and integrity of judges," said Amzulian.
