Army Chief Of Staff Calls Relocation Of Settlements Near The Bullet Warehouse Waiting For Evaluation Results

BOGOR - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said the discourse on relocating residential areas near the Regional Munisi Warehouse (Gudpur) of Kodam Jaya in Ciangsana Village, Bogor Regency, West Java, was based on the results of the evaluation.

"Yes, there is a possibility (relocation). Everything is there, there must be, later it will be the result of the evaluation," said Maruli in Bogor Regency, West Java, Sunday, March 31.

This was conveyed by Maruli in response to the fire and explosion that hit the cheap Gudang Kodam Jaya in Ciangsana Village on Saturday, March 30 evening.

However, the Army Chief of Staff explained that discussions on relocation will still be discussed, including regarding the technical possibility of its implementation.

"We are looking for more technical details, is it possible for us, for example, this condition is only disrupted by the threat, it turns out that we can handle it. Maybe we can't without being disturbed by all kinds of sounds? And that's all kinds of things we discussed," he explained.

Maruli said that the location of the cheap Gud had been like that since 1987. "Actually, those who have been close are housing. We have been here from ancient times, that's it. That's the same, all military complexes eventually get closer to the community, but with that condition, yes, we will evaluate it again later," he said.

Although the cheap Gud location is currently close to residential areas, Maruli emphasized that security is quite good. "It's quite good. We'll see again later, maybe in terms of disturbances or other risks, we will evaluate it," he said.

Previously, the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto revealed that based on temporary allegations, the cause of the Cod cheap fire at Kodam Jaya in Ciangsana Village, Bogor Regency, was due to sensitive expired ammunition.

"Yes, it can be from there. Meanwhile, one of them (the cause), yes," said Agus Subiyanto in Bogor Regency, West Java, Sunday.

Agus explained that expired ammunition is relatively sensitive or unstable so that if it is exposed to friction or heat, it can easily explode.

"That's why we have an SOP (standard operational procedure) where the warehouse is underground. So, underground because it is unstable and can explode at any time, that's our SOP. The storage is underground, then there are embankments and far from community settlements," he explained.

However, he said that his party was still looking for the exact cause of the fire that hit the cheap Gud. "Yes, the cause is still being sought. However, for the possible cause, what I said earlier was friction because it was unstable, yes," he said.
