JAKARTA - Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, delivered an introductory note for the two Draft Regional Regulations (Regional Regulations) at a plenary meeting at the West Java DPRD building, Jalan Diponegoro, Bandung City, Thursday, March 28, 2024.

The two Raperda executive initiatives have been included in the 2024 Regional Legislation Formation Program.

The first Raperda on Organic Agriculture Implementation in the West Java Province Region. Bey said that one alternative to restoring agricultural glory is organic agriculture.

"Organic farming combines traditions, innovation, and science to benefit the common environment and promote fair relations and good quality of life for all involved," said Bey Machmudin.

Through organic farming, farmers' income is expected to increase by utilizing local resources.

"Organic farming is a future agriculture that provides a number of advantages, such as reducing input and subsidy costs, utilizing local resources, independence from expensive and rare chemical fertilizer prices, improving the quality and nutrition of food products, and supporting sustainable agricultural systems," said Bey.

Meanwhile, the second Raperda is about the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) of West Java Province for 2025-2045.

Bey revealed that based on Inmendagri Number 1 of 2024 concerning Guidelines for the Preparation of the Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPD) for 2025-2045, the regional regulation must have been set no later than the first week of August 2024.

"Therefore, the Raperda regarding the RPJPD will immediately be prepared and proposed for discussion," he said.

The 2025-2045 RPJPD has been compiled and formulated by various stakeholders through an in-depth study based on empirical data.

"The preparation began with the initial design by capturing input to determine the problems and strategic issues of West Java through focus group discussions (FGD) with various stakeholders," said Bey.

Bey hopes that the two Raperda can run and become a priority for discussing the West Java DPRD in carrying out its legislative functions.
