The Number Of Homecomers Is Predicted To Be 190 Million People, Jokowi Urges To Go Home Early

President Joko Widodo said the number of people who will go home on this year's Eid Al-Fitr holiday reached 190 million people, an increase of 56 percent compared to 2023.

"This year's homecoming is a very large homecoming. The increase is 56 percent compared to last year. The total homecoming of 190 million travelers this year is approximately, this is from a survey," said President Jokowi after attending the Opening of the Hikmah Budhi Congress as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, March 28.

The President explained that the number of travelers reaching 190 million people was not a small number. Therefore, the president invites the public to go home early, such as dispatching family members first.

That way, the President hopes that people can go home in a comfortable position.

"I appeal to the public to go home early. Otherwise, the family who left for homecoming first, so that our homecoming this year is all in a comfortable position," said the President.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo previously said the number of people who would travel during homecoming and return increased by about 56 percent from the 2023 data.

The National Police also carried out Operation Ketupat 2024 in order to serve the implementation of the homecoming flow and backflow of Lebaran. The operation lasted for 13 days, from April 4 to April 16.

The National Police also prepared 5,784 posts for services (posyan), security (pospam), and integrated posts. This post consists of 3,772 security posts, 1,532 service posts, and 480 integrated posts.

The posts are prepared to provide services on toll roads, rest areas, and arteries, including routes to tourist destinations.
