PON Aceh-Sumut 2024 Called The Late Special Gift Of Jokowi's Position

BANDA ACEH - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy stated that the 2024 Aceh-Sumut PON is a special gift for President Jokowi.

"A special gift to Mr. President Jokowi who will end his term of office in 2024," said Muhadjir Effendy, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

The statement was made by Muhadjir Effendy after reviewing the progress of the PON venue construction at the Banda Aceh National Hope Stadium complex together with the Acting Governor of Aceh and the General Chair of the Central KONI, in Banda Aceh.

Because it is one of the special gifts for President Jokowi. So the schedule for the biggest sporting event in Indonesia was deliberately designed to be held in September 2024.

After reviewing, Muhadjir assessed that the progress of the PON venue development, especially for the opening arena, was running standard. That is, not too fast and also slow.

However, he hopes that this development process will be further improved, so that the target from the end of July, must be accelerated until mid-July.

"This timeline needs to be accelerated, because there are visits from regions for trials, checking venues, and preparing for opening," he said.

In addition, he also asked that the structure of the building must be maximized, starting from the quality of iron, and materials and others. So, it is necessary to immediately add more labor.

On this occasion, he also believes that the work on the PON arena is going well because starting from the top line up to the bottom, everything is done by young people.

"For current developments, it is good and the draw between Aceh and Medan, no city is prioritized, everything is the same," he said.

He added that the excitement of PON will depend on the enthusiasm of the people of Aceh, the Governor and officials. At least the excitement in Aceh is the same as the previous PON.

"But I'm sure it will be more lively this year, because human resources and audience mobilization are much more than the previous PON," said Muhadjir Effendy.
