Big Mission Of Democrats Back To Government, AHY: Not Wrong To Support Prabowo

Chairman of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) admitted that his party had not made the wrong steps to support Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate (candidate) in the 2024 presidential election. The reason is, Prabowo's victory has realized the big mission of the Democratic Party to return to government.

"Last Saturday, I conveyed to the Democratic administrators and cadres, we must give thanks to Allah SWT. Even though the path we are taking is not easy, steep and very windy, Alhamdulillah, the path we choose is not wrong. The big mission of the Democratic Party, namely returning to the national government, has been achieved in line with a one-round victory, the Prabowo-Gibran pair," said AHY during a gathering and breaking the fast with the elected president in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta, Wednesday, March 27.

AHY revealed the reason his party wanted to return to government. One of them is the space for the Democratic Party to contribute to limited countries because they take positions outside the government.

"Why has the Democratic Party's efforts to return to government become our main mission? First, for 10 years from 2004 to 2014, the Democratic Party is in government. There have been many policies for the development and pro-people programs of the era of President SBY's government which have been benefited by the people. In fact, a number of programs were continued by President Jokowi's government," said AHY.

"Second, for the last 9 years and 4 months, the Democratic Party outside the government has limited the space for movement, resources, and real contribution of the Democratic Party to fight for the expectations of the Indonesian people. Practically, our struggle is limited only in parliament and regional governments," he continued.

However, AHY is grateful for Prabowo's victory, which has given certainty about the Democratic Party's position to return to national government in the period 2024-2029.

"On this auspicious occasion, I also need to convey to the cadres of the Democratic Party, apart from of course the approval and will of Mr. President Joko Widodo, the return of the Democratic Party to the current national government is also due to the support and encouragement of Mr. Prabowo Subianto," he said.

AHY promised to make the government a success and focus on helping fulfill Prabowo's campaign promises. On the other hand, said AHY, his party does not want to interfere with Prabowo's focus in preparing future work programs.

"You have also ordered me to prepare a number of the best cadres of the Democratic Party, who will help you in the cabinet and future government. Hopefully we can really help you to make better Indonesia, the next five years," he concluded.
