Jokowi Repeatedly Called, Presidential Staff Affirms Trial Of The Constitutional Court's Presidential Election Lawsuit

JAKARTA - Presidential Special Staff for Legal Affairs Dini Purwono emphasized that the 2024 General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) session was fully within the realm of the Constitutional Court.

"Regarding the dispute over the results of the 2024 General Election, it has become the domain of the Constitutional Court," said Dini in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 27.

Dini responded to the name of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who was repeatedly mentioned in the preliminary hearing on the dispute over the results of the 2024 presidential election at the Constitutional Court building.

He explained that the constitution and laws and regulations have provided legal mechanisms and constitutional channels that can be pursued by election participants who do not accept election determination by the General Elections Commission (KPU).

Furthermore, said Dini, in every legal effort it is known and applies the general principle that anyone who argued something is obliged to prove the arguments or accusations.

"So, we'll see how the evidentiary process will be in court and we are waiting for the Constitutional Court's decision," said Dini.

He also said there would be no relevance if later the government was asked for information as a related party in the Constitutional Court. This is because the government is not a disputed party in the presidential election.

"The government does not see relevance in this case because the government is not a party in the presidential election dispute and therefore there is no reason to be involved in the Constitutional Court trial," said Dini.

This Wednesday, a preliminary hearing for the PHPU for the 2024 presidential election was held which was divided into two sessions.

Case one, namely the application submitted by candidate pair number 1 Anies-Muhaimin with register number 1/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 was held at 08.00 WIB-completed.

Meanwhile, case two, namely the application submitted by candidate pair number 3 Ganjar-Mahfud with register number 2/PHPU.PRES-XXII/2024 was held at 13.00 WIB-completed.

Furthermore, the stages of the trial examination as well as the submission of the respondent's answer, the information of the related party, and the giver of information were held on Thursday (28/3).

Then the trial examination was held from April 1 to 18, and the stage of the pronouncement of the verdict or stipulation was held on April 22, 2024.
