PALU - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport in Palu City, Central Sulawesi Province (Sulteng).

"There was damage at the airport due to the 2018 earthquake, so the runway and terminal were damaged and it was necessary to carry out reconstruction and rehabilitation," said President Jokowi as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 26.

The President said the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport spent a budget of IDR 567 billion, with a runway length of 2,500 meters and a width of 45 meters.

"With such an area, Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport is able to land wide-body aircraft," said the President.

According to Jokowi, with a fairly large budget, we hope that the airport can be used by the community and increase the mobility of passengers and goods in the Central Sulawesi region.

"I have checked the work and everything has changed, the more beautiful and good so it is ready to be used," he said.

In addition to inaugurating Mutiara Sis Al-Jufri Airport, President Jokowi also inaugurated other airports, namely in Banggai Laut Regency, Central Sulawesi Province, Gorontalo Province, and North Sulawesi virtually.

"We understand how important the airport is, so that the government is carrying out development and improvements to make it easier for the community," said the President again.

After inaugurating Mutiara SisAl-Jufri Airport, President Jokowi visited the Anutapura Palu Hospital as well as inaugurated a new building which was also rehabilitated and reconstructed after the earthquake.
