Appreciated, 22 Suspected Terrorists Arrested By Special Detachment 88 In A Week In East Java

JAKARTA - The Porli headquarters (Mabes) stated that the Densus 88 Anti-terror has arrested 22 suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network during the past week. They were arrested in East Java.

"As of today, 22 suspects have been arrested in East Java," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Wednesday, March 3.

Even so, Rusdi emphasized that until now the Densus is still developing it. So, it is not impossible that the number of suspected terrorists arrested will increase.

"It is still being developed by the Densus so that the fahim group can really be resolved in East Java," he said.

Densus 88 Anti-terror has again arrested 8 suspected terrorists in the East Java area. The arrests were the result of the development of 12 suspected terrorists who were previously arrested.

"8 more (suspected terrorists) were arrested," said Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Gatot Repli Handok.

The eight suspected terrorists, said Gatot, were arrested in different areas on Tuesday, March 2. With details, two were arrested in Surabaya, two in Malang, and 4 people from Bojonegoro. They are the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network.

Meanwhile, 12 other suspected terrorists had the initials UBS alias F, TS, AS, AIH aka AP, BR, RBM, Y, F, ME, AYR, RAS, MI. They were arrested on February 26th.

From the results of the investigation, they were suspected of being affiliated with the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group.

During the arrest, Densus 88 secured a number of pieces of evidence such as 50 9mm rounds, one homemade FN pistol, four black and white daulah flags, eight knives, two samurai, three machetes, and other sharp weapons in the form of a bow.
