Operation Ketupat Polri Deploy 155 Thousand Personnel And 5,784 Posts, Secure Lebaran 2024 Homecoming

The National Police deployed 155,165 personnel who were members of Operation Ketupat to secure the Eid Al-Fitr 2024 homecoming flow. Hundreds of thousands of personnel are a combination with related agencies.

"Approximately 155,165 personnel were involved, in which there were stakeholders related to 69,969 personnel," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to reporters, Monday, March 25.

Operation Ketupat was held for 13 days starting from April 4 to 16, 2024. Not only focusing on the traffic flow of homecoming and return flow, but hundreds of thousands of joint platforms will also overcome problems in Eid moments such as empty houses.

"This 2024 homecoming has increased by approximately 56 percent compared to the 2023 homecoming, meaning of course for homecoming this time we are preparing strategies related to traffic engineering that will be implemented," he said.

Some of the traffic engineering that will be implemented are oneway, contraflow, and odd-even. The scheme is expected to overcome the potential for congestion to occur.

In addition, the National Police has also prepared 5,784 posts throughout Indonesia, both on toll roads and non-toll roads.

"Earlier it was held at approximately 5,748 posts that will be prepared to provide services, whether it is on toll roads, rest areas, arteries, and also including the route that we have prepared to provide security in tourist areas, we have also prepared it," said Sigit.

Previously, Korlantas Polri and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicted that 193.6 million people would return to their hometowns at the moment of Eid al-Fitr 2024 with the most destinations to Central Java.

"The first destination for travelers is Central Java, which is almost 61.6 million people," said Director of Law Enforcement or Dirgakkum Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Raden Slamet.

Then, East Java became the second area to be the destination for travelers. It is predicted that 37 million people will go there.

Slamet said West Java was the next region with a prediction of 32 million. The Special Region of Yogyakarta with 11 million people and DKI Jakarta 6.4 million people.
