Siak Police Arrest Santri Bakar Ponpes That Killed 2 People, Perpetrators Often Bullyed

Siak Police, Riau arrested an E (14) santri suspected of burning a boarding school in Kampung Dayun, Dayun District, killing two students with the initials F (18) and N (14) on February 18.

The Deputy Chief of Police of Siak, Kompol Ade Zaldi, said that the perpetrator was suspected of committing a fire crime that caused people to die, violence against children that resulted in death, or deliberately killed other people's lives.

"We have secured the perpetrator with the initials E (14) a resident of Siak. The person concerned is also a student at the Islamic boarding school," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, March 23.

Ade explained that the determination of the suspect and the arrests was made from the results of investigations since the fire incident. It is known that the perpetrator burned the boarding school because he often experienced bullying from his friend and the victim.

"The perpetrator was hurt because he was bullied, then burned the boarding school. Then the perpetrator was arrested on March 21, 2024," explained Ade.

The incident actually took three victims. Another victim with the initials SN (16) finally survived and is still being treated for severe burns.

However, until now the perpetrator has not admitted his actions. But from a series of examinations carried out on perpetrators, witnesses and experts, E is the sole perpetrator of this act.

"Until now, the person concerned has not admitted his actions. However, from the testimony of witnesses and experts, the perpetrator is alone. This is also corroborated by the testimony of one of the victims before he died, that the victim informed his parents that he felt oil doused by E at the time of the burning of the Islamic boarding school," explained Ade.
