Cool, The Wife Of The Late Gus Dur Invites Interfaith To Open Fasting Together At The DIY Wates Church

KULON PROGO - The wife of the fourth President of the Republic of Indonesia KH Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, Sinta Nuriyah, opened up with Ramadan 1445 with interfaith, disabled and marginalized communities at the Santa Maria Church Complex, Mother of Good Advisor Wates, Kulon Progo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY).

Shinta Nuriyah, in Kulon Progo, asked about the meaning of fasting.

"Fasting to abort annual obligations or businesses because Allah SWT, and or Ramadan comes and fasts, namely holding thirst and hunger from morning to sunset?" Shinta asked at an event entitled Iftar with Shinta Nuriyah Abdurahman Wahid, at the Santa Maria Church Complex, the Mother of Good Advisor Wates at 15.30 WIB-19.00 WIB, Thursday, March 21 evening.

According to ShintaNuriyah, fasting that is limited to annulling obligations will lead to greed and injustice, and inappropriate activities.

"For that, don't do mere formalistic fasting, but revolutionary fasting that turns people fasting into people with better personalities," he said.

Furthermore, Shinta Nuriyah said she was very happy to break her fast at the Santa Maria Mother of Good Advisor Wates. According to him, this event represents the face of Indonesia which is full of ethnic and religious diversity.

"I myself feel very happy, because I feel that I seem to see a very beautiful miniature of Indonesia. Because here we gather not only various ethnic groups, but also various religions. This is the face of the Indonesian people. Therefore, once again I feel very happy to be present in this place," he also said.

Shinta also advised the Indonesian people to always maintain harmony and tolerance between religious believers.

"We are a pluralist society, consisting of various ethnicities and religions. Therefore, we must be able to live in harmony, respect each other, respect each other, love each other, that's my message," he said again.

The Father of the Santa Maria Parish Church, the Mother of Good Advisor, Father Aloysius Budi Purnomo, said that this event was a collaboration between the church and the Safari Ramadan program which was carried out by the late Gus Dur's wife.

The program was actually named Sahur around, but because it was held at the church, the time for its implementation was changed to the afternoon until the time for breaking the fast.

"This is a routine momentum every year entrusted by Mrs. Shinta to me as part of her traveling sahur program every year in the month of Ramadan. So opening together is one of the efforts of her to continue to build cooperation with anyone without discrimination of any religion and trust," he also said.

"The plus value of this activity is to uphold humanity, harmony, brotherhood and the spirit of nationality without discrimination," he said again.
