Vice President Calls Agglomeration Of The DKJ Bill Old Ideas To Synchronize Development

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that the formation of the Jakarta agglomeration area and the surrounding area in the Special Region of Jakarta Bill was an old idea or idea to synchronize development.

"Regarding the DKJ Law to coordinate the agglomeration, I actually think it is a necessity. The idea to coordinate and synchronize, especially Jakarta planning with its surroundings, has been a long time," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 21.

The Vice President revealed that the formation of the agglomeration area had actually surfaced for a long time, even when he was still a member of the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD.

According to Ma'ruf Amin, there is indeed a need for a bill so that development planning issues can be integrated or synchronized with the surrounding areas.

The Vice President explained that there had been discussions about Jakarta which had to be led at the ministerial level as the coordinator of several regions.

One of the urgencys of this integrated development, said the Vice President, is to avoid flooding problems in the Jakarta area.

"If it is not integrated, like Depok, which should be infiltration of water, then it runs out, finally there is no absorption of water, then go directly to Jakarta. So, increase the volume of flooding," said the Vice President.

Therefore, the Vice President welcomed the old idea accommodated in the DKJ Bill.

The DKJ Bill has been officially approved by the Legislation Body of the House of Representatives (Baleg DPR) and the Government for discussion at the nearest DPR plenary meeting, then the approval of the ratification of the bill becomes law.

The agreement was taken at the Level I Decision Making Working Meeting as a result of the Discussion of the Bill Working Committee on DKJ Province on Monday (18/3).
