Despite Accepting Prabowo-Gibran's Victory, NasDem Still Encourages Anies-Imin To Sue The Results Of The Presidential Election To The Constitutional Court

Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, emphasized that his party accepted Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka's victory in receiving the most votes in the 2024 presidential election.

However, Surya admitted that he still encouraged his presidential and vice presidential candidates, Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar and the National Team for Winning Anies Muhaimin (Timnas AMIN) to sue the results of the presidential election to the Constitutional Court (MK).

The plan is that the AMIN national team will register a request for a dispute over the results of the general election (PHPU) to the Constitutional Court on Thursday, March 21 or the day after the announcement of the results of the 2024 General Election by the KPU.

"Friends who will submit to the Constitutional Court tomorrow, say from the AMIN National Team to the Constitutional Court, I think we agree. Our respect is for efforts to seek justice, efforts to evaluate, improve things we think we need to do, I think it must continue as it should be," said Surya at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, March 20.

Surya emphasized that NasDem's attitude in accepting the results of the 2024 General Election does not mean agreeing that the election will run well.

According to him, the current election is colored by many records from various parties. Many activists from various civil society groups to professors from a number of universities criticized and raised allegations that the election was marked by fraud.

Surya also emphasized the need for evaluation and correction to the shortcomings of holding elections to improve the democratic process in the future.

"NasDem stated, once again, for the sake of national unity, yes, receiving the results of the 2024 General Election with a note of various shortcomings, various things that we need to improve, we have to fix. That is NasDem's attitude," explained Surya.

The KPU appointed presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 2, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, as the winner of the 2024 General Election with 96,214,691 votes or 58.58 percent of all national valid votes.

Then, the presidential and vice presidential candidates number 2 Anies-Muhaimin received 40,971,906 votes or 24.95 percent. Meanwhile, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD received 27,040,878 votes or 16.47 percent. The total valid votes for the 2024 Presidential Election are 164,227,475 votes.

The Prabowo-Gibran pair's votes were superior in 66 out of 128 overseas election committee offices (PPLN). In addition, Prabowo-Gibran is also superior in 36 provinces, except for Aceh and West Sumatra which were won by candidate pair number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar.

The determination is based on KPU Minutes Number 218 / PL.01.08-BA / 05/2024 concerning the Determination of the Results of the Presidential and Vice Presidential Elections, Members of the DPR, Members of the DPD, as well as Members of the Provincial DPRD and Regency/City DPRD in the 2024 General Election.
