Tronton Truck Hits Train In Serdang Bedagai, Driver And Kernet Escape

Serdang Bedagai Resort Police (Polres), North Sumatra are still hunting for a driver carrying a tronton truck loaded with fertilizer after being hit by the Putri Deli train in Serdang Bedagai Regency, Tuesday night.

"The driver is still being searched for by officers," said temporary official Head of the Public Relations Section of the Serdang Bedagai Police, Iptu Edward Sicycleuk, quoted by ANTARA Wednesday, March 20.

Edward continued the incident when the tronton truck numbered BK 9223 YQ, which was loaded with fertilizer, came from the direction of Tebing Tinggi.

"It is suspected that before arriving at the scene of the tronton truck case, the engine had died at the railroad crossing," he said.

Then, when the engine went out, Putri Deli's train from Medan to Tebing Tinggi hit the tronton truck and was pushed into contact with a shop.

As a result of the incident, Edward said that driver Zulfikar and assistant Machinis Sanjaya were injured while being treated at the Sultan Sulaiman hospital, Sei Rampah.

"Meanwhile, the tronton truck driver is still under investigation for leaving the scene after the incident," he said.

Previously, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Divre I North Sumatra evacuated the Putri Deli train that hit a truck in Serdang Bedagai, Tuesday (19/3) night, and will demand compensation for truck drivers who broke through the crossing.

"We will sue in accordance with applicable regulations and laws," said KAI Public Relations Manager of Divre I North Sumatra Anwar Solikhin.

Currently, KAI is still calculating material and non-material losses from the incident. The Deli Women's train (U76A) of the Medan-Tanjung Balai connection had an accident at a maintained crossing (JPL Number 31) Km 44+300 plots of roads between the Land Lidah Station, Serdang Bedagai, Tuesday (19/3) night at 20.24 WIB.

The KAI team has also sent a rescue locomotive to the location for the evacuation process of the Putri Deli train which was unable to continue its journey due to damage to the locomotive.

KAI together with the regional team also moved the truck body on the rail so that the lane could be passed.

KAI North Sumatra Divre also provides service recovery services to passengers of the Putri Deli train whose trips have been hampered. Some trains also experience delays due to lanes that cannot be passed.
