KPK Examines 10 Corruptor Prisoners Regarding Detention Extortion, One Of Them Is Former Director Of Garuda Emirsyah Satar

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) examined 10 witnesses as witnesses in cases of illegal levies in the detention center (rutan). They are all prisoners, one of whom is Emirsyah Satar who is the former President Director of Garuda Indonesia.

"The investigative team has scheduled summons and examinations of witnesses," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters in a written statement, Tuesday, March 19.

The former detainees from the anti-corruption commission were questioned at the Sukamiskin Class I Prison, Bandung, West Java. Apart from Emirsyah, investigators also examined Dodi Reza, who is the former Regent of Musi Banyuasin, former Bintan Regent Apri Sujadi, and Ainul Faqih who is a former staff member of the wife of the former Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

Then also examined by former BPK auditor Arko Mulawan, the private sector who is now a convict, namely Bong Tjiee Tjiang alias Aseng, Budi Setiawan who is the former Head of the East Java Bappeda, Dono Purwoko who is the former Head of Construction Division VI PT Adhi Karya, former Secretary of the PUTR Office of South Sulawesi Edy Rahmat, and Edy Wahyudi who is a former DIY Disdikpora official.

The investigation material carried out by investigators has not been detailed. However, their statements are believed to shed light on the actions of 15 KPK Detention Center employees who have now been detained.

As previously reported, 15 anti-corruption commission employees were officially announced as suspects in the prison extortion case and detained. They are suspected of having managed to raise up to Rp6.3 billion from 2019-2023.

The money was obtained from detainees in corruption cases with various amounts ranging from Rp. 300 thousand to Rp. 20 million. The handover is carried out directly or through a holding bank account controlled by the lurah and corting.

Prisoners then get exclusive facilities after giving money. One of them can use a cellphone or power bank.

Meanwhile, those who do not pay or are late in depositing receive uncomfortable treatment. Among them, the detention room is locked from the outside, violations and reductions in sports rations, and gets a guard quota and more hygiene pickets.
