The Peak Of Homecoming Flows Is Expected To Occur On April 5-7

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Muhadjir Effendy said the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on April 5-7, 2024.

"The peak (current) for homecoming is estimated to occur on April 5-7, 2024 and backflow on April 14-15, 2024," he said after the 2024 Eid Transport Ministerial Meeting (RTM) at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture's office in Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 18.

This estimate was obtained from a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, which predicts the number of travelers in 2024 to reach 193.6 million people.

This number, he said, increased by more than 60 percent, where in 2023, the number of travelers reached 123.8 million people.

"It is much bigger than in 2023, which is 123.8 million people. There is an increase of more than 60 percent," he said.

To facilitate the mobility of travelers, Coordinating Minister Muhadjir said that the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) has provided six new toll roads, including the Cimanggis-Cibitung toll road section 2B Cikeas-Cibitung (19.65 kilometers), the South Jakarta-Cikampek II toll road to the Kutanegara-Sadang (8.5 kilometers) section, and the Solo-Yogyakarta-New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) toll road. Colomadu-Klaten (22.3 kilometers).

Furthermore, the Bangkinang-Koto Kampar (24.7) kilometer toll road, the Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat toll road section II Kuala Tanjung-Indrapura (9.47 kilometers) and section III-IV Tebing Tinggi-Sinaksak (47.15 kilometers) section, as well as the Indrapura-Kisaran toll road section II Limapulh-Kisaran (32.15 kilometers).

"Everything is expected to be passed functionally, just please be aware, of course there are vulnerabilities, especially the weather," he added.

As for sea crossings, said Muhadjir, the government has prepared three main ports, including Bandar Bakau Jaya Port in Serang Regency for class VIII and IX vehicles, Ciwandan Port in Cilegon City for travelers on motorbikes, as well as Merak Port for four-wheeled transportation, buses, and basic food transportation.

All of these facilities, said Muhadjir, are also equipped with 112 health posts in the Java region, and 24 posts in the Sumatra toll road area.
