BPOM Palembang Serves Residents To Test Takjil Food Content During Ramadan

PALEMBANG - During Ramadan, the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) Palembang, South Sumatra opened a food content test service for residents. This is intended for residents who feel that there is a suspicious content in takjil food. Acting Head of BPOM Palembang Teddy Wirawan when confirmed in Palembang Saturday said that the service was opened specifically for Ramadan 1445 Hijri. He explained, to optimize the service, even his party also received reports through social media, and residents only reported or could come directly to the BPOM office in Jakabaring, Palembang. "Residents should not be too worried, but should be vigilant if they find takjil foods that have the potential to contain hazardous substances such as bolaks, formalin, textile coloring," he said, quoted by Antara, Saturday, March 16.

He added that takjil food is indeed difficult to predict whether it contains harmful substances or not, but vigilance can be done by looking at the striking colors of food, such as deep red and pink. He emphasized that if in the future they find traders whose merchandise contains dangerous substances, they are advised to stop sales.

Then his party will trace to the producer because the producer is the most responsible and can be subject to sanctions based on the applicable health law. Food checks will continue to be carried out by his party, even before Eid if needed.
