JAKARTA - The Democrat Party wing organization that is part of the Democrat Youth Front (BMD) is pressing for an Extraordinary Congress to overthrow Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as chairman.

Chairman of the Barisan Muda Democrats (BMD) Supandi R Sugondo said the decision was taken after having input in a limited leadership board meeting. He said his party had fought for the glory of the Democratic Party for 17 years with the hope that the PD would continue to maintain democratic values, openness, honesty and common goals.

Supandi explained that BMD was disappointed with the shrinking development of the Democratic Party. He noticed that there was something wrong in the regeneration process of the Democratic Party's leadership.

"Since the KLB in Bali (2013), the 4th Congress in Surabaya (2015), and the 5th Congress in Jakarta (2020) we have paid close attention, especially to the 2014 Pileg event even though SBY directly chaired the PD and still served as president, Democrat. in the legislative elections, it actually decreased to 10.19 percent. Even though the 2014 legislative elections declined, the 2015 congress in Surabaya, SBY was confirmed again as the head of the 2015-2020 period, "said Supandi at a press conference in Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, Tuesday, March 2.

Moreover, when he entered the 2012 Pilkada event, the Democrats appointed Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as a regional head candidate in the DKI Pilkada without going through a process of terms and conditions that apply in the selection of regional heads.

AHY became the head of the Democratic Party and lost in the first round. After losing to the governor, AHY was appointed chairman of the Joint Task Force Command (Kogasma) whose function was to win the 2019 elections.

"In fact, AHY's ability to bring victory to the Democratic Party was tested in the 2019 elections, but the result was not that the number of votes had increased but instead decreased to 7.7 percent," said Supandi.

"Again (Democrat.red) which is managed by family management cannot prove that they raised and won the Democrat Party," he continued.

Supandi also assessed that since the 2020 Congress, AHY has become chairman of the Democrats by forced acclamation, there are no orders, materials and financial LPJs, even the 2020 AD / ART was made outside or after the congress.

"The Democratic Party lost its identity as a modern and open party. The Democrat Party failed to create a radicalization because the wing organization as a place for regeneration was amputated, their movement was closed, their rights were turned off, they were only used for momentary interests," said Supandi.

For this reason, he emphasized, BMD asked to cancel the 2020-2025 AD / ART because the product was made outside of a congressional hearing.

"We ask AHY to resign from his position as chairman because only one year he has been elected as a ketum has been authoritarian. It is very easy to dismiss members and is unable to handle internal party problems," said Supandi.

Supandi also asked that the right to vote and be elected as a member of the Democratic Party is not shackled. The party's central leadership must provide the widest possible space for cadres as a reflection that Democrats are a modern and open party.

"To realize these points, we ask that the KLB Volume 2 be implemented immediately. Return the party according to its identity!" Supandi concluded.
