Minister Of Home Affairs Denies Substitution Of Acting Governor Of Aceh Strengthened By Politicians

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian ensured that the replacement of the Acting Governor of Aceh from Ahmad Marzuki to Bustami Hamzah was not at all politically charged.

The Minister of Home Affairs emphasized that Ahmad Marzuki's replacement was carried out on the basis of his tenure which had been too long.

"It's been one year and eight months, it's enough, take turns. We haven't had an Acting Officer for one year and eight months," said Tito Karnavian as quoted by ANTRA, Friday, March 15.

Tito also firmly denied that the replacement of the governor's acting was related to the defeat of one of the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates during the 2024 General Election in Aceh Province.

"No," said the Minister of Home Affairs.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs on behalf of the President appointed Bustami Hamzah as Acting Governor of Aceh replacing Achmad Marzuki.

"I believe that you will carry out your duties as well as possible, according to the responsibilities given," said Tito Karnaviandi Jakarta, Wednesday (13/3).

The inauguration procession which took place at the Ministry of Home Affairs Hall was also attended by the leadership of the Aceh DPR, the chairman of the Aceh Party Muzakir Manaf along with a number of other Acehnese figures and politicians.

Tito conveyed that the governor's acting has almost the same authority as the definitive governor, except in four ways, including not being allowed to transfer positions within his local government without the permission of the Minister of Home Affairs.

"In addition, governor officials are also not allowed to make strategic policies, such as regional expansion without the permission of the Minister of Home Affairs," he said.

Minister of Home Affairs Tito hopes that Bustami Hamzah can carry out her mandate as well as possible for the advancement of Aceh Province because there is still a lot of homework to be done.

In addition, the acting governor must realize the implementation of the XXI Aceh-Sumut National Sports Week (PON) which is scheduled for September 2024. For these activities, the central government, both the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of PUPR, and the Ministry of Finance and others will help.

"Because the implementation of the Aceh-North PON is not just the implementation of the program, but must bring pride and honor to Aceh," he said.
