JAKARTA - The Inspectorate of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun examining 78 employees who were decided to violate ethics related to illegal levies (extortion) at the detention center (rutan) by the KPK Supervisory Board. This process is carried out for one week.

"For the current discipline, the information we have obtained has carried out a marathon examination of the 78 examined persons," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters quoted on Friday, March 15.

"Starting from March 14 to 21, the examination will continue," he continued.

Ali said the examination by the KPK Inspectorate to provide disciplinary punishment could not be carried out in a hurry. There are procedures that must be met.

"You can't then call tomorrow, today you make a letter, for example. There are provisions when checking," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK ensured that employees who were caught in prison extortion were not only cut off by ethics. The inspectorate will impose disciplinary sanctions that could lead to dismissal.

A total of 93 employees are suspected of being involved in the prison extortion case. 90 employees were asked to have been tried ethically.

Of that number, 78 of them have been severely sanctioned with ethics, namely being told to apologize directly and openly and have been implemented. While the rest were returned to the Secretary General of the KPK for committing extortion before the KPK Council was formed.

Then, the anti-corruption commission also investigated the crime in this case through the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution. There are more than 10 people who have been named as suspects but have not been announced because the administrative process is still being carried out.

In this case, investigators have searched three KPK detention centers. As a result, evidence was found in the form of financial records which were later confiscated and analyzed.
