GORONTALO - Gorontalo Immigration Team together with the Gorontalo Province Foreigner Monitoring Team detained four foreign nationals (WNA) from Sri Lanka in a joint operation in Pohuwato Regency. Head of the Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Gorontalo Friece Sumolang said the four foreigners carried out mining activities that were not in accordance with the residence permit granted. "The four foreign nationals from Sri Lanka received visas with the aim of attending a wedding, and they have extended their residence permit at the Kendari immigration office," he said in Gorontalo, Antara, Thursday, March 14. The foreigners have a residence permit for visits issued for tourism, carry out emergency work, talks, businesses, purchases of goods, aid personnel, media and food support, the duty of the government, to join transportation in Indonesian territory. "They were proven to have violated the laws and regulations in the field of Immigration, because they were at the gold mining location without a permit which was an activity that was not in accordance with the residence permit," he emphasized. For their actions, the four foreigners were subjected to legal action in the form of detention, revocation of residence permits and deportation. "The four Sri Lankan foreigners will be subject to deportation in accordance with article 75 paragraph (2) letter F of Law number 6 of 2011 concerning immigration," he said.

The Gorontalo Immigration Office plans to deport the four foreigners on Saturday, March 16, 2024.
